Torringford Cemetery, Torrington
Location: 1622 Torringford St., Torrington, CT 06790
Type of Site: Belongs to Torringford Congregational Church
Condition: While it is well tended, many of the stones are broken, battered, falling apart. Some are even in pieces and part of the stone wall which separates it from the farm which surrounds it.
History and Notable Features: There are many stones from the 1700s and several stones for soldiers of the Revolutionary War. Also of note, many of the bodies (and their stones) once resided at the Bissell Cemetery on East Main St., Torrington. These were exhumed and transplanted due to construction. Bissell Cemetery no longer exists.
